Our client, a recognized leader in the distribution of raw chemicals, international trade and logistics are recruiting for a  Payroll and Benefits Officer. This is a CONTRACT role and you will need to be available immediately.
 
The role is to manage and execute accurate payroll, compensation, and benefits processes in line with South African legislation. You will ensure timely salary payments, effective benefits administration, and support HR and Finance through reliable data and reporting, while contributing to ongoing process improvements.
 
Qualification
  • National Diploma, Degree in HR, Payroll, Finance or equivalent degree.
  • Understanding, knowledge and best application practices of local legislation and statutory related compliance pertaining to tax and payroll procedures.
  • Proficiency with payroll (Sage 300 People), SARS e-Filing and HRIS Software.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite knowledge.
 
Responsibilities
 
Payroll Administration
  • Process end-to-end monthly payroll using Sage 300 People.
  • Validate, capture and maintain accurate payroll records: employee data, salary changes, deductions, overtime, leave, new starters and resignations.
  • Reconcile and submit statutory payments and reports (PAYE, UIF, SDL, EMP201, EMP501, IRP5, COIDA etc).
  • Administer and apply tax directives and fringe benefit calculations.
  • Address payroll-related queries and assist with audit and compliance reviews.
  • Assist with administrative reports to management for annual salary reviews, bonuses, and performance bonuses, etc.
  • Assist with drafting cost to company salary structuring.
  • Maintain accurate benefit and compensation data to support HR analytics and enable timely, informed decision-making by management.
  • Draft and consolidate employee exit documentation
 
Benefits Administration
  • Management of employee all benefits
  • Ensure correct deductions and reconciliations with the third-party benefit provider/s.
  • Manage benefit-related documentation (Maternity, Paternal Cover, Bursaries, Training etc).
  • Liaise with benefit providers and employees regarding onboarding, changes, and terminations.
  • Co-ordinate provident fund committee for ongoing and annual third-party benefit provider reviews.
 
Compliance & Reporting
  • Ensure payroll, benefits, and compensation practices comply with BCEA, LRA, SARS, COIDA, SDL, and EE legislation.
  • Maintain confidentiality and data integrity in line with POPIA.
  • Assist external service provider with employee data for B-BBEE reporting and submissions (EEA2, EEA4 etc).
