Head of Human Resources | Durban
An exciting opportunity exists for a commercially minded Head of Human Resources to shape and lead the strategic people agenda within a growing organisation.
This role is responsible for building the people capability required to support business growth by designing and embedding high-performance frameworks across talent, leadership, organisational design and culture. The successful candidate will focus on creating scalable people systems that drive performance, while partnering with operational HR teams to ensure effective execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic People Leadership

Develop and implement the organisation’s people strategy aligned to business objectives.

Build a high-performance culture through robust performance management, capability development and leadership excellence.

Drive organisational design, job grading, competency frameworks and workforce planning.
Talent & Leadership
-
Lead the talent acquisition strategy to attract and retain high-calibre talent.

Develop succession plans, leadership pipelines and career development frameworks.

Design best-practice recruitment, assessment and onboarding processes.
Culture & Organisational Effectiveness
-
Champion employee engagement, organisational values and leadership capability.

Coach leaders to build accountable, high-performing teams.

Drive initiatives that strengthen culture, performance and employee experience.
HR Technology & Analytics
-
Maximise the value of HR technology to improve decision-making, reporting and workforce insights.

Use people data and analytics to inform strategic business decisions and measure organisational performance.
Governance
-
Develop strategic HR policies and frameworks that support consistent, compliant people practices.
-
Partner with operational HR teams to ensure effective implementation across the business.

Provide strategic guidance on employee relations and labour legislation.
Key Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Organisational Development, Business or a related discipline.

Postgraduate qualification advantageous.

7–12+ years’ progressive HR leadership experience.
-
Demonstrated success designing and implementing performance management, organisational design and talent strategies.

Strong knowledge of HR technology, workforce planning, leadership development and people analytics.
-
Sound understanding of South African labour legislation and employee relations.
-
Experience within a multi-site, fast-paced or growth environment is advantageous.
