Financial Accountant | Durban
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Financial Accountant to oversee the creditors function while ensuring accurate financial reporting, robust financial controls and statutory compliance. This role combines hands-on accounting with team leadership and process improvement, playing a key role in maintaining the integrity of the finance function.
Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the full creditors function, ensuring accurate invoice processing, supplier reconciliations and timely payments.

Review financial transactions, journals and general ledger balances to ensure accuracy and integrity.

Prepare and review monthly management accounts, reconciliations, accruals and month-end reporting.

Ensure compliance with VAT, SARS and other statutory requirements, maintaining audit-ready financial records.

Strengthen internal controls, identify process improvements and drive finance automation initiatives.

Supervise and develop the creditors team, ensuring deadlines, accuracy and service standards are consistently achieved.

Partner with operational stakeholders to provide accurate financial information that supports business decision-making.
Key Requirements:

Degree or Diploma in Accounting or Finance.

Professional registration (SAIPA, SAIBA, CIMA or similar) will be advantageous.

Minimum 5 years’ accounting experience, including at least 2 years overseeing a creditors or accounts payable function.

Strong knowledge of VAT, statutory compliance and financial reporting.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Experience within a retail, automotive, manufacturing or stock-driven environment will be advantageous.
