Financial Accountant

Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to play a key role in managing the financial reporting function. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective cash flow management, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of financial processes. The successful candidate will also lead a finance team while partnering with management to support sound financial decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare consolidated monthly management accounts and financial reporting packs.

• Develop, monitor, and manage budgets and cash flow forecasts.

• Oversee the day-to-day cash flow position to ensure effective liquidity management.

• Manage foreign exchange transactions, including hedging, foreign payments, and banking activities.

• Lead and manage the Creditors, Cashbook, and Cash Office functions.

• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure all balance sheet reconciliations are completed accurately.

• Ensure the Fixed Asset Register is accurate and up to date.

• Prepare, reconcile, and submit VAT returns while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.

• Coordinate and oversee the annual external audit process.

• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and implement more efficient systems.

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team to ensure accurate reporting, timely payments, and effective reconciliations.

Key Requirements:

• BCom Accounting degree (Honours, CIMA, or completed Articles advantageous).

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a financial accounting role.

• Previous experience managing and developing a finance team.

• Previous wholesale industry experience is an added bonus.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with Sage Evolution experience advantageous.

• Strong business acumen and the ability to contribute beyond the finance function.

• Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of an organisation.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while managing multiple priorities.

• High levels of integrity, reliability, and a customer-focused approach.
