Assistant Regional Financial Manager

Our client is looking for a dynamic and commerically minded Assistant Regional Financial Manager to support regional financial operations across multiple dealerships. This role partners closely with senior finance leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong governance, operational efficiency, and effective financial control across the region. Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee financial operations across multiple dealerships, ensuring accurate and timely management reporting.
- Review dealership performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
- Consolidate regional financial results for reporting to senior leadership.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, statutory regulations, and internal financial controls.
- Review monthly general ledger audit files and ensure accuracy of provisions and accruals.
- Ensure expenses are recognised in the correct accounting periods and disclosed appropriately.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
- Monitor performance against budget and investigate variances.
- Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic and operational decision-making.
- Support cost-saving and process improvement initiatives across the region.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and implement corrective actions where required.
- Monitor operational, credit, and regulatory risks at dealership level.
- Ensure compliance with FIC and tax requirements.
- Safeguard company assets through effective stock, cash, debtor, and fixed asset controls.
- Conduct dealership visits to ensure compliance with operational standards, segregation of duties, audit requirements, and OEM procedures.
- Oversee floorplan utilisation, inventory ageing, and working capital management.
Operational Finance Support
- Ensure all internal and reporting deadlines are met.
- Support Dealer Principals and Financial Managers with operational and accounting queries.
- Ensure payments are authorised and processed accurately and timeously.
- Oversee payroll reporting and departmental allocations.
- Promote automation and standardisation of finance processes.
- Assist with the implementation of new financial policies and procedures.
People Management & Development
- Lead, mentor, and support dealership finance teams.
- Provide training on accounting principles, VAT, policies, and procedures.
- Support succession planning and ongoing staff development initiatives.
Key Requirements:
- Minimum 1 years’ experience as a Dealership Financial Manager.
- Strong understanding of dealership financial operations and controls.
- CA(SA) or CIMA is essential.
- Strong commercial and business acumen.
- Experience managing and developing finance teams.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Proficiency in management systems such as Kerridge/CDK or similar.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
