Our client, a multinational manufacturing company in South Africa, is looking for a Human Resources Practitioner for their team in East London to provide a full function Human Resources service in terms of advice, administration, support, control, & coordination of Human Resources activities on plant level.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or National Diploma in Human Resources Management or Industrial/Organisational Psychology
- 3–5 years’ HR generalist experience, preferably in a manufacturing or unionised environment
Skills and Competencies
- Working knowledge of South African labour legislation
- Sound understanding of industrial relations processes
- Strong administrative and organisational skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in MS Office and HR systems
Key Performance Areas
HR Governance and Legislative Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable South African labour legislation, bargaining council agreements, and internal HR policies, maintaining audit-ready documentation and supporting statutory inspections.
Employment Equity and Skills Development
- Coordinate and administer Employment Equity and Skills Development processes, including committee meetings, documentation, reporting, and compliance with Department of Employment and Labour requirements.
Recruitment, Onboarding, and Workforce Planning
- Manage end-to-end recruitment and selection for plant-based roles, including requisitions, agency liaison, interviews, pre-employment checks, onboarding, and administration of internships and apprenticeships in line with MERSETA requirements.
Employee Relations and Industrial Relations
- Support line management with disciplinary, grievance, performance, probation, and dispute resolution processes; conduct investigations, maintain records, and represent the employer at DRC and CCMA proceedings alongside the HR Specialist.
HR Administration, Reporting, and Continuous Improvement
- Deliver effective HR administration and reporting, liaise with payroll and trade unions, coordinate employee lifecycle processes (inductions, exits, long service awards), manage HR systems and documentation, and continuously improve HR practices and legislative knowledge
