Production Superintendent | Durban

Our client is seeking an experienced Production Superintendent to lead its sheet metal fabrication operation. This role is responsible for driving performance across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People (SQDCP), while managing CNC laser cutting, press bending, welding, tooling, jigs and fixtures, and manufacturing engineering activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all sheet metal fabrication operations, including laser cutting, press bending and welding.

• Drive production performance, productivity, OEE, quality, cost reduction and on-time delivery.

• Optimise manufacturing processes through Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Oversee the design, validation and continuous improvement of jigs, fixtures and tooling.

• Support new product introduction, process validation, PPAP and manufacturing readiness.

• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001/IATF 16949 quality standards and all SHE requirements.

• Develop, coach and lead production teams to build a high-performance culture.

Minimum Requirements

• Degree or National Diploma in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or Production Engineering/Management.

• 8–10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in a production leadership role.

• Strong experience in sheet metal fabrication, including CNC laser cutting, press braking and welding.

• Knowledge of jig and fixture design, manufacturing engineering and process improvement.

• Experience within an automotive or high-volume manufacturing environment.

• Sound understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, OEE, TPM and Root Cause Analysis.

• Strong leadership, planning and problem-solving skills.
